Lliga dels drets dels pobles

The Lliga dels Drets dels Pobles is a Non governmental Organisation ( NGO) located  in  Sabadell (Barcelona) with 30 years of experience  and  with the following goals:

-The recognition of the rights of the people ( individual and collective rights)

- The promotion of a culture of peace and a social transformation.

These goals will be achieved through denunciation, political incidence, advocacy, awareness, consciousness and research , with the support  of volunteers and through building networks with other NGO.

In 2007 , we launched the campaign : “ Congo, danger of riches ( Congo, perill de riqueses) .  A conflict for the high technology ”, with the goal to denounce and create awareness between the citizenship on the forgotten conflict of the Democratic Republic of  Congo. Now, the project is subsidized by the office of Promotion of the Peace and Human Rights and by the Catalan Agency of Cooperation to Development.

The campaign on the Democratic Republic of the Congo departs from a previous  experience of the entity in activities related to the diffusion of forgotten conflicts. This one treats on the causes and consequences of the conflict of the RDC and his process of peace, the women and the civil Congolese society in front of  the conflict, the violation of the human rights and of the peoples - the case of the people pygmy-, the natural resources as engine of the conflict. At present, the campaign assumes new challenges, extending the research to the Great Lakes and studying in depth the strategies of participation and collaboration between Catalan and Congolese entities. The project is based on several methodological hardware: continued search, itinerant exhibition and guide, conferences, joint work with entities, and this new page - where can recent news and an extensive papers be on the RDC and the Great Lakes.
